BACKGROUND: Wound healing has evolved in recent years, resulting in diverse therapeutic options. OBJECTIVE: This study evaluated the effects of the somatic antigen of the hydatid cyst protoscolex on wound healing in mice with full-thickness skin wounds. METHODS: Fifty-four adult mice, weighing 25 ± 5 g and approximately 60 days old, were divided into three groups (A, B, and C), each further divided into three subgroups. Subgroups A1, A2, and A3 were assigned negative controls. B1, B2, and B3 received hydatid cyst somatic antigen tests at 10 µg/SC, whereas C1, C2, and C3 received somatic antigen tests at 20 µg/SC. Under general anesthesia, a wound biopsy puncture of 9.8 mm in diameter was performed on the mice's back and spine. In the experimental group, antigen and alum adjuvant were administered subcutaneously around the wound, while the control group received Phosphate-Buffered Saline (PBS). Using digital images, a geometric assessment was conducted on days 0, 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 21 post-wounding. The obtained images were analyzed by Image J software and after analyzing the data by SPSS software. RESULTS: A significant difference in terms of epithelization was observed in the antigen treatment group with a dose of 20 µg on days 3 and 6 (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the 20 µg antigen group was significantly higher than the 10 µg antigen group in terms of this factor on day 3 (P < 0.05). Skin samples were taken from all wounds on days 3, 10 and 21 for microscopic evaluation. Regarding epithelization, on day 10, a significant difference was observed in the treatment group with a concentration of 10 µg with the control group and the treatment group with a concentration of 20 µg (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Based on the results of the present study, it can be concluded that somatic antigens of protoscolex hydatid cyst are dose-dependent and antigens with a dose of 20 µg by subcutaneous injection accelerate wound healing and epithelialization.

We present a simple technique to approach both the endosteum and the periosteum percutaneously, under a local anesthetic, in cases of cannulated screw intramedullary fixation.

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a multisystem chronic pandemic, wound inflammation, and healing are still major issues for diabetic patients who may suffer from ulcers, gangrene, and other wounds from uncontrolled chronic hyperglycemia. Marshmallows or Althaea officinalis (A.O.) contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and phenolics that support wound healing via antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. Our study aimed to develop a combination of eco-friendly formulations of green synthesis of ZnO-NPs by Althaea officinalis extract and further incorporate them into 2% chitosan (CS) gel. Method and Results: First, develop eco-friendly green Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) and incorporate them into a 2% chitosan (CS) gel. In-vitro study performed by UV-visible spectrum analysis showed a sharp peak at 390 nm, and Energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectrometry showed a peak of zinc and oxygen. Besides, Fourier transforms infrared (FTIR) was used to qualitatively validate biosynthesized ZnO-NPs, and transmission electron microscope (TEM) showed spherical nanoparticles with mean sizes of 76 nm and Zeta potential +30mV. The antibacterial potential of A.O.-ZnO-NPs-Cs was examined by the diffusion agar method against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis) and Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). Based on the zone of inhibition and minimal inhibitory indices (MIC). In addition, an in-silico study investigated the binding affinity of A.O. major components to the expected biological targets that may aid wound healing. Althaea Officinalis, A.O-ZnO-NPs group showed reduced downregulation of IL-6, IL-1ß, and TNF-α and increased IL-10 levels compared to the control group signaling pathway expression levels confirming the improved anti-inflammatory effect of the self-assembly method. In-vivo study and histopathological analysis revealed the superiority of the nanoparticles in reducing signs of inflammation and wound incision in rat models. Conclusion: These biocompatible green zinc oxide nanoparticles, by using Althaea Officinalis chitosan gel ensure an excellent new therapeutic approach for quickening diabetic wound healing.

Background: Deep sternal wound infection (DSWI) remains a serious complication after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). We herein aimed to stratify diabetic patients who underwent CABG using bilateral internal mammary artery (BIMA) for levels of glycated hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) and compare postoperative outcomes. Methods: Between January 2010 and August 2020, 4,186 consecutive patients underwent isolated CABG at our center. In 3,229 patients, preoperative HbA1c levels were available. Primary endpoints were wound healing disorder (WHD), DSWI, and 30-day mortality. Patients were stratified according to preoperative HbA1c levels. Patients were further divided into subgroups according to utilization of BIMA. Results: After adjustment, no differences in mortality and stroke rates were seen between group 1 (HbA1c < 6.5%) vs. group 2 (HbA1c ≥ 6.5%). WHD was more frequent in group 2 [2.8 vs. 5.6%; adjusted p = 0.002; adjusted odds ratio (OR), 1.853 (1.243-2.711)] but not DSWI [1.0 vs. 1.5%; adjusted p = 0.543; adjusted OR, 1.247 (0.612-2.5409)]. BIMA use showed a higher rate of WHD [no BIMA: 3.0%; BIMA: 7.7%; adjusted p = 0.002; adjusted OR, 4.766 (1.747-13.002)] but not DSWI [no BIMA: 1.1%; BIMA: 1.8%; adjusted p = 0.615; adjusted OR, 1.591 (0.260-9.749)] in patients with HbA1c ≥ 6.5%. Conclusions: Intraoperative utilization of BIMA is not connected with an increase of DSWI but higher rates of WHD in patients with poor diabetic status and HbA1c ≥ 6.5%. Therefore, application of BIMA should be taken into consideration even in patients with poor diabetic status, while identification of special subsets of patients who are at particular high risk for DSWI is of paramount importance to prevent this serious complication.

Wound healing is an evolving and intricate technique that is vital to the restoration of tissue integrity and function. Over the past few decades, chitosan a biopolymer derived from chitin, became known as an emerging biomaterial in the field of healing wounds due to its distinctive characteristics including biocompatibility, biodegradability, affinity to biomolecules, and wound-healing activity. This natural polymer exhibits excellent healing capabilities by accelerating the development of new skin cells, reducing inflammation, and preventing infections. Due to its distinct biochemical characteristics and innate antibacterial activity, chitosan has been extensively researched as an antibacterial wound dressing. Chronic wounds, such as diabetic ulcers and liver disease, are a growing medical problem. Chitosan-based biomaterials are a promising solution in the domain of wound care. The article analyzes the depth of chitosan-based biomaterials and their impact on wound healing and also the methods to enhance the advantages of chitosan by incorporating bioactive compounds. This literature review is aimed to improve the understanding and knowledge about biomaterials and their use in wound healing.

Coronary artery fistulae (CAF) are a rare anomaly characterized by abnormal connections between a coronary artery and a cardiac chamber or a great vessel, with most patients remaining asymptomatic. Despite being predisposed to severe complications like heart failure, patients with CAF infrequently experience severe stenosis in the coronary artery. This study delineates a case involving a 46-year-old male presenting with a fistula bridging the right coronary artery (RCA) and right atrium (RA), manifesting a pronounced 99% stenosis at the right extremity of the coronary artery proximal to the fistula. Concurrently, the individual exhibits six conventional risk factors: age over 40, male gender, hypertension, diabetes, smoking, and hypertriglyceridemia. Following pharmaceutical intervention, the patient was discharged and subjected to extended follow-up. This case highlights the dual processes of "accelerating damage" and "retarding renewal" in the progression of atherosclerosis. Factors such as shear stress, smoking, and hypertension are posited to expedite endothelial cell damage, while aging and diabetes may impede the renewal and repair of these cells. Together with the concept of secondary atherosclerotic plaque healing, this case prompts the introduction of a "Double Endothelial Healings" hypothesis, proposing a potential pathogenetic mechanism for coronary artery atherosclerosis.

Background: Toe symphalangism is characterized by a fusion of the interphalangeal joint between the middle and distal phalanges. While typical lesser toe fractures heal well with conservative treatment, in our clinical experience, we encountered patients with symphalangeal toe fractures who experienced long-lasting pain and delayed radiographic union. Therefore, this study aimed to report radiographic outcomes following conservative treatment of symphalangeal fractures of the lesser toes. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 14 patients with symphalangeal lesser toe fractures who were treated conservatively. We investigated the mechanism of injury and measured the time from the initial injury date to the complete radiographic union. The fracture gap distance was measured on an initial lateral radiograph. Results: Symphalangeal fractures involved the fourth toe in 4 patients (28.5%) and the fifth toe in 10 patients (71.4%). Regarding the mechanism of injury, 6 patients (42.9%) were injured by stubbing or bumping into the door, 5 patients (35.7%) were injured by tripping, 2 patients (14.3%) were injured by heavy objects falling directly on their toes, and 1 patient (2.3%) complained of pain after wearing pointed shoes for half a day. The mean time to complete union was 9.1 months, and the median period was 5.5 months (range, 0.8-29 months). The initial gap of the fracture was 0.60 mm (range, 0.30-1.04 mm). Conclusions: The results of our case series may help counsel patients in the outpatient clinic that prolonged healing time may be required for the union of symphalangeal toe fractures.

Introduction: The role of Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) in skin wound healing remains to be fully characterized. This study aims to evaluate the regenerative potential of autologous AD-MSCs in a non-healing porcine wound model, in addition to elucidate key miRNA-mediated epigenetic regulations that underlie the regenerative potential of AD-MSCs in wounds. Methods: The regenerative potential of autologous AD-MSCs was evaluated in porcine model using histopathology and spatial frequency domain imaging. Then, the correlations between miRNAs and proteins of AD-MSCs were evaluated using an integration analysis in primary human AD-MSCs in comparison to primary human keratinocytes. Transfection study of AD-MSCs was conducted to validate the bioinformatics data. Results: Autologous porcine AD-MSCs improved wound epithelialization and skin properties in comparison to control wounds. We identified 26 proteins upregulated in human AD-MSCs, including growth and angiogenic factors, chemokines and inflammatory cytokines. Pathway enrichment analysis highlighted cell signalling-associated pathways and immunomodulatory pathways. miRNA-target modelling revealed regulations related to genes encoding for 16 upregulated proteins. miR-155-5p was predicted to regulate Fibroblast growth factor 2 and 7, C-C motif chemokine ligand 2 and Vascular cell adhesion molecule 1. Transfecting human AD-MSCs cell line with anti-miR-155 showed transient gene silencing of the four proteins at 24 h post-transfection. Discussion: This study proposes a positive miR-155-mediated gene regulation of key factors involved in wound healing. The study represents a promising approach for miRNA-based and cell-free regenerative treatment for difficult-to-heal wounds. The therapeutic potential of miR-155 and its identified targets should be further explored in-vivo.

Wound healing is crucial for maintaining skin integrity and preventing complications from external threats. Various plants, such as Achillea millefolium, Aloe vera, Curcuma longa, Calendula officinalis, Camellia sinensis, Azadirachta indica, and Plantago, have demonstrated wound healing capabilities and have been used in herbal medicine for wound care. NLCs are second-generation lipid nanoparticles, blending solid and liquid lipids to improve medication loading and limit leakage. NLCs have been used in various applications, including cosmeceuticals, chemotherapy, gene therapy, and brain targeting. Wound healing is divided into four stages: hemostasis, inflammatory response, proliferation, and remodeling. Factors such as age, gender, chronic disorders, and local agents like infections can affect recovery. These plants' antiinflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial activities have demonstrated potential in wound healing. Combining herbal medicinal plants and nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) can revolutionise wound treatment and improve overall healthcare outcomes.

PURPOSE: To examine the factors that affect graft healing after laryngotracheal reconstruction (LTR). METHODS: We conducted a retrospective chart review at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between January-2008 and October-2023. We included all patients who underwent LTR and required anterior and/or posterior graft placement, while those who underwent procedures without graft placement and those with incomplete information were excluded. RESULTS: Forty-nine patients were analyzed. Most patients were pediatric (65.3%), male (65.3%), had no coexisting comorbidities (55.1%), and harbored grade 3-4 stenosis (59.2%). Thirty patients (61.2%) underwent open surgery. Various graft complications occurred including infection (n = 1, 2%), dehiscence (n = 3, 6.1%), scar (n = 6, 12.2%), and granulation (n = 29, 59.2%). Only 15 patients (30.65%) achieved the composite status of "healthy" graft. Among 43 patients who had postoperative cultures, positive results for Pseudomonas aeruginosa and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus were observed in 10 and four patients, respectively. Open surgery and double-stage procedure were significantly associated with higher rates of granulation tissue formation. Pediatric-age group had significantly higher rate of complete epithelization compared to adult-age group. A significantly greater proportion of patients who had unhealthy grafts had open surgery. The rate of double-stage LTR was significantly higher in unhealthy grafts compared to healthy grafts. Prolonged stent duration was linked to various graft-related complications. Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed no statistically significant correlations between various factors and postoperative graft-related complications. CONCLUSION: Open surgery, double-stage procedure, pediatric age group, and stent duration were not significant risk factors associated with postoperative graft-related complications during LTR in multivariate analysis.

Although the Achilles tendon is the largest and strongest tendon in the body, healing of the Achilles tendon is the most common injury, and this process is difficult due to poor tendon circulation; moreover, the underlying mechanism has not been fully elucidated. In our study, we aimed to investigate the effects of pentoxifylline and alpha-tocopherol administered separately or in combination on rats with Achilles tendon injury. Forty-eight male Wistar rats weighing 230 ± 30 g were used in the study. The rats were randomly divided into eight groups of six animals each. Tendons were evaluated histopathologically and biomechanically. According to the statistical analysis, the vascularity density in the pentoxifylline group on day 14 was significantly greater than that in the other groups (p < 0.05). The collagen arrangement in the pentoxifylline and alpha-tocopherol groups on day 14 was found to be firmer and smoother than that in the control group (p < 0.05). The collagen arrangement in the pentoxifylline group on day 28 was greater than that in the other groups (p < 0.05). The biomechanical results were significantly greater in all groups (p < 0.05). Pentoxifylline contributed to tendon healing both through neovascularization in the early period and by improving collagen orientation in the late period, while alpha-tocopherol had a positive effect on collagen orientation in the early period. No beneficial effects were observed when pentoxifylline and alpha-tocopherol were used together. We believe that further research is needed to understand the effects of this combination therapy on tendon healing.

Bacteria-infected wound healing has attracted widespread attention in biomedical engineering. Wound dressing is a potential strategy for repairing infectious wounds. However, the development of wound dressing with appropriate physiochemical, antibacterial, and hemostatic properties, remains challenging. Hence, there is a motivation to develop new synthetic dressings to improve bacteria-infected wound healing. Here, we fabricate a biocompatible sponge through the covalent crosslinking of collagen (Col), quaternized chitosan (QCS), and graphene oxide (GO). The resulting Col-QCS-GO sponge shows an elastic modulus of 1.93-fold higher than Col sponge due to enhanced crosslinking degree by GO incorporation. Moreover, the fabricated Col-QCS-GO sponge shows favorable porosity (84.30 ± 3.12 %), water absorption / retention (2658.0 ± 113.4 % / 1114.0 ± 65.7 %), and hemostasis capacities (blood loss <50.0 mg). Furthermore, the antibacterial property of the Col-QCS-GO sponge under near-infrared (NIR) irradiation is significantly enhanced (the inhibition rates are 99.9 % for S. aureus and 99.9 % for E. coli) due to the inherent antibacterial properties of QCS and the photothermal antibacterial capabilities of GO. Finally, the Col-QCS-GO+NIR sponge exhibits the lowest percentage of wound area (9.05 ± 1.42 %) at day 14 compared to the control group (31.61 ± 1.76 %). This study provides new insights for developing innovative sponges for bacteria-infected wound healing.

Background: Recently, cold atmospheric plasma (CAP), as well as adipose mesenchymal stem cells derived exosomes (ADMSCs-EX), have been applied separately to wound healing treatment. However, no study has investigated the additive effect on the healing mechanism of these two methods in the same skin lesion treatment model. Aim: We conduct this study to describe the results of using CAP and human ADMSCs-EX on in vitro wound healing. Methods: Exosomes were isolated from donor adipose tissue samples by ultracentrifugation method, characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Western blot. Assessment in vitro wound healing on proliferation and migration evaluation experiments on human fibroblasts with culture medium supplemented with 10µg total exosomal proteins/1 mL and irradiated with CAP with an intensity of 30 seconds/cm2. Results: Experimental results to evaluate the ability to stimulate fibroblast migration, showed that cell migration speed in the group supplemented with ADMSCs-EX was equivalent to the group with a combination of CAP and ADMSCs-EX and had the highest rate with 87.8 ± 4.2 % and 84.4 ± 5.3 % while in the control group it was the lowest with 61.9 ± 11.4% (p<0.05). The group supplemented with CAP gave fibroblast proliferation and migration results similar to the control group (p>0.05), showing the safety of CAP with the growth of the cells. Conclusions: Therefore, in animal models, we intend to use a combination of these two therapies by using ADMSCs-EX injection therapy into the dermis at the wound edge to avoid the impact of CAP affecting the cell proliferation.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most common malignant tumor of the skin. This case report aims to report a case of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma in an elderly male presenting with a non-healing ulceroproliferative growth on the shin of the right lower limb and a hypopigmented patch on the shin of the left lower limb. The significant feature of this case is that in the shin of the left lower limb, SCC appears in the background of chronic hypertrophic lichen planus (HLP) but in the right lower limb, there is no evidence of a background hypertrophic lichen planus. There are only a few similar cases reported so far in the literature showing long-standing hypertrophic lichen planus as a risk factor for the development of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. This case illustrates that chronic hypertrophic lichen planus should be considered as a potential precursor lesion for SCC. Regular screening is essential for early detection, enabling timely intervention for improving patient outcomes.

Introduction: Wound healing is severely compromised in patients with diabetes owing to factors such poor blood circulation, delayed immune response, elevated blood sugar levels, and neuropathy. Although the development of new wound healing products and prevention of serious complications such as infections in wounds have received substantial interest, wound healing remains a challenge in regenerative medicine. Burn wounds, especially third-degree burns, are difficult to treat because they are associated with immune and inflammatory reactions and distributive shock. Wound care and treatment that protects the burn site from infection and allows wound healing can be achieved with bioengineered wound dressings. However, few studies have reported effective dressings for third-degree burn wounds, making it important to develop new dressing materials. Methods: In this study, we developed an artificial amniotic membrane (AM) using epithelial and mesenchymal cells derived from human amnion as a novel dressing material. The artificial AM was applied to the wound of a diabetic third-degree burn model and its wound healing ability was evaluated. Results: This artificial amnion produced multiple growth factors associated with angiogenesis, fibroblast proliferation, and anti-inflammation. In addition, angiogenesis and granulation tissue formation were promoted in the artificial AM-treated mouse group compared with the control group. Furthermore, the inflammatory phase was prolonged in the control group. Conclusions: Our preliminary results indicate that the artificial AM might be useful as a new dressing for refractory ulcers and third-degree burns. This artificial AM-based material represents great potential for downstream clinical research and treatment of diabetes patients with third-degree burns.

Currently, research on thermal interface materials (TIMs) is primarily focused on enhancing thermal conductivity. However, strong adhesion and multifunctionality are also important characteristics for TIMs when pursing more stable interface heat conduction. Herein, a novel poly(urethane-urea-imide) (PUUI) elastomer containing abundant dynamic hydrogen bonds network and reversible disulfide linkages is successfully synthesized for application as a TIM matrix. The PUUI can self-adapt to the metal substrate surface at moderate temperatures (80 °C) and demonstrates a high adhesion strength of up to 7.39 MPa on aluminum substrates attributed its noncovalent interactions and strong intrinsic cohesion. Additionally, the PUUI displays efficient self-healing capability, which can restore 94% of its original mechanical properties after self-healing for 6 h at room temperature. Furthermore, PUUI composited with aluminum nitride and liquid metal hybrid fillers demonstrates a high thermal conductivity of 3.87 W m-1 K-1 while maintaining remarkable self-healing capability and adhesion. When used as an adhesive-type TIM, it achieves a low thermal contact resistance of 22.1 mm2 K W-1 at zero pressure, only 16.7% of that of commercial thermal pads. This study is expected to break the current research paradigm of TIMs and offers new insights for the development of advanced, reliable, and sustainable TIMs.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: This review was to offer a comprehensive analysis of currently available evidence on post-extraction alveolar socket healing, including i) the histological and molecular events during alveolar socket healing, ii) the dimensional ridge alterations after socket healing and controversies relating to sinus pneumatisation, iii) the patient-specific factors, procedural elements, and site-related variables influencing socket healing, iv) techniques and effectiveness of alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) procedure, and v) the philosophies and cost-effectiveness of ARP in clinical practice. SOURCES AND STUDY SELECTION: To investigate the dimensional profiles of the alveolar ridge following unassisted healing, an overview of systematic reviews was conducted in February 2024 by two independent reviewers. Four electronic databases were searched in Pubmed, Embase, Web of science and Cochrane Library between 2004-2024 to identify all relevant systematic reviews on post-extraction healing. A further manual search of reviews was also conducted. The articles were further reviewed in full text for relevance. The AMSTAR-2 appraisal tool was adopted to assess methodological quality. Current research pertaining to other listed objectives was objectively analyzed in narration. DATA: 11 out of 459 retrieved studies were selected and ultimately covered in this review on the dimensional changes of alveolar ridge following natural healing: Three systematic reviews and four systematic reviews with meta-analyses. The methodological quality of all included reviews was critically low. CONCLUSION: This review thoroughly examines the healing profiles of post-extraction alveolar sockets and highlights the dynamic process with overlapping phases and the inter-individual variability in outcomes. Alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) procedure is a potential strategy for facilitating prosthetic site development, while the current evidence is limited. Herein, an individualized and prosthetically driven approach is crucial. Further well sized and designed trials with novel biomaterials need to be undertaken, and the role of artificial intelligence in predicting healing and assisting clinical decision-making could be explored. (293 words) CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: By advancing our understanding of alveolar socket healing and its management strategies, clinicians can make more informed decisions regarding patient and site level assessment and selection, surgical techniques, and biomaterial choices, ultimately contributing to the enhanced healing process with reduced complications and improved quality of life for patients undergoing tooth extraction and dental implant treatments.

Natural products have received a lot of attention in a variety of medical sectors, including dentistry. Cissus, a flowering plant genus, has long been used for its therapeutic benefits. The purpose of this review is to thoroughly investigate the possibilities of Cissus extracts in dentistry. To that end, we used specific selection criteria for the selection of pertinent scientific articles published in the scientific information databases of PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar, Scopus, and ProQuest. We found that the diverse array of bioactive compounds found in varied species of Cissus holds promise for applications ranging from oral wound healing to periodontal health. This review summarizes known studies on antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and tissue-regenerative characteristics of Cissus extracts, shedding light on their potential significance in modernizing modern dental practices. It exerts that Cissus extracts have the potential to supplement established dentistry therapies by providing all-natural remedies for a variety of oral health conditions.

Background: The process of post-extraction socket healing is critical for ensuring proper tissue repair and minimizing complications in dental practice. Suturing techniques play a pivotal role in this process, influencing wound closure, hemostasis, and overall healing. Materials and Methods: This prospective clinical trial involved 80 participants who required single-tooth extractions. Patients were randomly assigned to four groups, each receiving a distinct suturing technique: simple interrupted sutures, horizontal mattress sutures, vertical mattress sutures, and continuous sutures. Standardized assessments, including clinical examination and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans, were performed at baseline, 1 week, and 4 weeks post-extraction. Wound dehiscence, soft tissue healing, and bone preservation were evaluated. Results: At 1-week post-extraction, the continuous suture group exhibited the lowest rate of wound dehiscence (5%) compared to other groups (simple interrupted, 15%; horizontal mattress, 10%; vertical mattress, 12%). Soft tissue healing scores at 4 weeks were significantly higher in the continuous suture group (8.7 ± 0.5) than in the other groups (simple interrupted, 7.2 ± 0.8; horizontal mattress, 7.8 ± 0.7; vertical mattress, 7.5 ± 0.6). CBCT analysis revealed superior bone preservation in the continuous suture group (98% remaining bone volume) compared to the other groups (simple interrupted, 92%; horizontal mattress, 95%; vertical mattress, 94%). Conclusion: This study demonstrates that the continuous suturing technique offers advantages in post-extraction socket healing, including reduced wound dehiscence, improved soft tissue healing, and better bone preservation.

Background: The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of vitamin B complex supplementation following periodontal flap surgery on clinical and microbiological parameters. Materials and Methods: A randomized controlled trial on 10 patients with periodontitis in split-mouth design was undertaken to find the effect of vitamin B complex supplementation with open flap debridement on periodontal wound healing. Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for Tannerella forsythus and Porphyromonas gingivalis was done using subgingival plaque samples at 0 and 90th day. Results: The results showed a significant reduction (P < 0.01) of clinical (plaque index, gingival index, gingival bleeding index, probing pocket depth, and relative attachment level) and microbial profile in both treatment groups, whereas on intergroup analysis, more reduction in all clinical parameters were observed in the test group, but statistically, the results were insignificant.
